"In 10 years of this job I have never had anyone ask me for blankets" 胡说八道! This company is so ill-equipped. They showed up without a ramp for the curb, without blankets for wood floor (which is very badly damaged now), and two workers who were almost certainly illegal mexican workers. They complained that they could not park in the alley even though there is no access to the building from the alley and I saved a spot for them in front of the building. Then, they complained that there was no freight elevator even though I have no control over it and there was still a regular elevator. Finally, when I asked them to put blankets on the floor, one of the guys lost it and said I was disrespecting him and refused to work any more. Therefore, only one worker remained and the Chinese boss just stood by the whole time and was not physically involved at all. Because there was only one worker and no protection/blanket which is standard, they dropped items and damaged the wood floor which will be very expensive to repair and replace. EDIT: Because you try to dis-credit me by making up that I am racist, here are some definitive photos where you can see the wood is clearly freshly chipped off, it's a VERY deep scratch and this is just one of MANY issues! I will upload it shortly. It does not matter if you had one person working downstairs and one person carrying items up. You cannot flip over large furniture items with a single man, which is what happened, causing heavy items to drop again and again. Feel free to tell me the exact words I said and I am happy to challenge you on how I disrespected your workers, I feel I did no such thing. In fact, the only racism I saw was your worker complaining about a black dude from the previous building! When I asked for blankets, the man lost his temper and said I should talk to you. I tried to shake his hand and apologize for any misunderstandings and he refused. As for "ignoring" them, I had to leave for an appointment and therefore was not there after the initial 20 minutes. Perhaps you are racist for hiring people who are clearly un-equipped for such a job, the poor man lifting the furniture was hurting and my partner had to feed him water and fruit! Meanwhile, you tell her that you had a burger from the place across the street while they are working - some boss you are. Finally, asserting that protecting the walls/floors/elevator requires many man-hours is ludicrous. I had already hung protection on the elevator, all it takes is for your company to bring blankets to protect to floor, it's a bare minimum for running a moving company, whether the client requests it or not. One final EDIT: Since you insist on calling me racist, let me tell you something about working in the US, whether you are Chinese (I am Chinese) or Mexican (I volunteer for Mexican organizations) or any other type of race: The customer is always right. How can you assume such words came out of my mouth if you weren't there to witness? These guys don't speak fluent English, and I somehow made them angry with my words in very hot weather, and rather than acknowledge there was probably some miscommunication you automatically assume I had intent to disrespect them. As a leader, you should de-escalate the situation and try to make things right rather than enable them to get further upset to the point of quitting or blaming the client for not informing you of intricate details of the move. The reason you and I are arguing now is because the client is a friend of mine and the story you told him does not line up with the story you told my partner or the story that I witnessed.
